3 Fantasy Football Trades to Propose Week 5 (2025)

Trade 1: Emeka Egbuka (WR – TB) for A.J. Brown (WR – PHI) + a Small Add-On

A.J. Brown has been one of the most traded players this season, and for good reason. The Eagles’ offense has been painfully inconsistent under new OC Kellen Patullo, with a run-heavy approach that’s left Brown’s managers frustrated.

Still, don’t forget the two most valuable fantasy traits: talent and usage. Brown owns a top-10 target share (28%) and ranks sixth in air yards share (46%). Just last week, he reminded us of his upside with a dominant showing against the Rams. If his manager is panicking, now’s the time to strike.

On the flip side, Emeka Egbuka has been a pleasant surprise, posting WR1-level efficiency despite being ranked nearly 10 spots lower than Brown in trade value charts. With a 22% target share and 34% air yards share, Egbuka is outperforming expectations. Add in the return of Chris Godwin and steady Mike Evans usage, and Egbuka’s production could sustain.

Bottom line: Brown remains the better bet for ceiling and proven talent, but flipping Egbuka plus a sweetener for him could win your league down the stretch.

Trade 2: Ja’Marr Chase (WR – CIN) for the Best Package You Can Get

Right behind Brown in trade activity is Ja’Marr Chase — another elite wideout off to a sluggish start. Chase has failed to clear 6.5 half-PPR points in three of four games, averaging just 5.6 points per contest when Jake Browning has been under center.

The problem isn’t target share — Chase still commands 27% of team targets — but the quality of those looks. With Browning, most of Chase’s targets have been shallow first-read routes, driving his aDOT down to just 5.1 yards over the past two weeks. He’s simply not being schemed into explosive opportunities.

Despite this, Chase’s name value keeps him locked inside the top 20 overall in trade calculators and consensus rankings. That creates a golden opportunity: his perceived value is still far higher than his actual production. Package him for multiple high-floor starters or a true WR1 and RB2 combo.

Smart managers won’t trade Chase for pennies, but if you can flip him at full name value, now is the time.

Trade 3: Jordan Mason (RB – MIN) for Ladd McConkey (WR – LAC)

This one is a classic two-for-one swap of highly traded players, with Mason (sixth) and McConkey (third) both ranking near the top in recent trade volume. On the surface, Mason looks enticing: he’s running strong behind Minnesota’s line and dominating carries. But look deeper and the picture changes.

With Aaron Jones due back soon, Mason’s role as the lead back will vanish. His ceiling is capped in a non-elite offense, and his long-term fantasy relevance is shaky at best.

McConkey, meanwhile, screams buy-low. The rookie has been overshadowed by established veterans Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston, but his usage suggests he’s on the rise. He leads the Chargers in routes run and owns an 18% target share with a 20% air yards share. His upside only grows if Allen slows down or misses time.

In short: Mason is a short-term rental, while McConkey could blossom into a reliable WR3/Flex with WR2 upside in one of the league’s most pass-heavy systems. If you can flip Mason for McConkey, pull the trigger.

Final Thoughts

Week 5 is the perfect time to make bold moves. A.J. Brown is a buy-low stud, Ja’Marr Chase should be flipped for maximum return, and Ladd McConkey is a sneaky stash with breakout potential. Target these trades now before the rest of your league catches on.
